Energy and transport on the four European seas

On 21-22 January, Viktoria Humeniuk, manager of the “Outside Help” program, attended an international seminar called “Energy and transport in the Four European Sea Basins” in Ankara (Turkey). During this event, participants discussed a broad range of questions, including:
    • approaches to security in subregions;
    • lessons learned from joint energy projects;
    • how to cooperate more effectively: the role of power grids and renewable resources;
    • transportation as a catalyst for subregional cooperation;
    • EU strategies and joint projects at the subregional level.

This event was part of the EU Four Seas project. ICPS is carrying out this project in tandem with a number of other think-tanks: The Center for Research into International Relations and Development (CIDOB Foundation, Barcelona); Centre for European Studies at the Middle East Technical University, Ankara; the International Center for Defense Studies, Tallinn; Istituto Affari Internazionali, Rome; the Institute of International Affairs and Centre for Small State Studies at the University of Iceland, Reykjavik; and the General Secretariat of the Conference of Peripheral Maritime Regions, Renne. The project’s goal is to analyze the impact of EU policies and strategies on subregional cooperation in four regions: the Baltic, Black, Caspian and Mediterranean basins.
