On 28 May, a roundtable took place called “Strategic priorities for increasing Ukraine’s energy security through 2030.” At the same time, a project launched by ICPS was presented and a study that is part of that project called “Ukraine’s international commitments in the energy sphere.”
Participants in the discussion included: Ivan Plachkov, Minister of Fuel and Energy in 2005-2006; Mykhailo Honchar, director of Energy Programs at the Nomos Center; Borys Kostiukovskiy, corresponding member of the Academy of Sciences of Ukraine; Valeriy Borovyk, Director of the Nova Energia alliance; Janusz Zakonyi, director of the “Additional EU-Funded Budget Support Technical Assistance to Ukraine” (ESBS Project); Vira Nanivska, ICPS Director; and representatives of fuel and energy companies in Ukraine, the EBRD, the European Business Association (EBA), the EC Delegation to Ukraine, and diplomatic missions.
In connection with this, the International Center for Policy Studies has launched a new project called “Strategic priorities to strengthen Ukraine’s energy security through 2030” with funding from the Embassy of the United Kingdom. The project will involve expert discussions of problematic issues in the energy sector and the preparation of a series of analytical documents, including Green papers designating a range of issues and White papers providing algorithms for resolving them.
