How to target the EU aid at reform process in Ukraine

How to target the EU aid at reform process in Ukraine

As of now, EU foreign aid to Ukraine has failed to meet its purpose: to support fundamental reforms. The part of blame is, of course, on Ukrainian side: the country did not push for any serious reforms. At the same time Ukraine has never defined its priorities and needs in aid for the EU in advance. The European Union did also little consultation with Ukraine on its needs prior to approving the budget.

It is time for Ukraine to make an unprecedented step and clearly state its needs to the EU. The International Centre for Policy Studies (ICPS) is pleased to invite you to a debate on “How to target the EU aid at reform process in Ukraine?” The questions to be answered are:

  • What is EU budget and how is it formed?
  • How can the third countries influence the process?
  • How much money and for what does Ukraine need from the EU?

We are bringing together representatives of the EU Delegation to Ukraine and other donors, the embassies of EU-27, the Ukrainian executive and legislative branches, non-state actors as well as the media.

The event will take place on Tuesday, March 23rd, from 14:00 to 15:00, in the ICPS conference hall (13a Pymonenka str).
